Ingredients
1 cup long grain basmati rice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
2 cloves
2 green cardamom pods
2 black cardamom pods
1 bay leaf
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
Salt to taste
Directions

Soak rice for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds, cloves, green and black cardamom pods, bay leaf, and turmeric, stirring constantly.

When the seeds crackle, add the rice and salt. Sauté for 2 minutes.

Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the rice is done (water is all absorbed).
